Tolman was praised for her performance as the part of Minnesota Police Officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair declared that Tolman was "calmly assuredly stolen the entire show". Tolman received the Critics' Choice Television Award for her performance in the category Best Supporting Actress in the category of Movies/Miniseries. Also she was nominated for Best Actress were received at the Emmy Awards as well as the Golden Globes. The same year, it was revealed that Tolman will have a guest role on the Mindy Project in the role of Abby Berman who is a romance author. Tolman was an actor in Michael Dougherty's horror comedy film Krampus. Tolman's breakout role in the role of Fargo caused her to drop numerous supporting roles, including mother roles as well as best friend and wife. Tolman was searching for other roles with a twist.
